AVANGAR took two of the three maps against FURIA after losing Vertigo (2-16), Inferno (16-8) and Train (19-16), to lift the DreamHack Open Rio 2019 trophy.
The first pistol round of the grand final went to FURIA, who took the early lead on their map pick, Vertigo. A big three-kill round by Rinaldo "ableJ" Moda Junior in a 2vs3 the following round as he let the AVANGAR players pass him onto the B site. AVANGAR then won the first round with weapons advantage, but the Brazilians were able to then win a forcebuy to stay in control on the scoreboard and the economic game. With passive defenses FURIA started to run away with the half, as Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato got four kills in the 11th round to make it 10-1. The Brazilians gave up only one more round after that, closing the half 13-2.
The second half started with the Brazilians once again winning the pistol round, all but sealing the deal as AVANGAR were against the wall. Up 14-2, FURIA then put the nail in the coffin on the map by winning against two forcebuys with Yuri "yuurih" Santos ending the 18 round map with 26 frags and 138.6 ADR.

FURIA made it three out of four pistol rounds on the CT side on Inferno with Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo scoring a triple. With the weapons advantage in the third round, AVANGAR were able to breach the A site and get on the board. A massive triple by Andrei "arT" Piovezan with the AWP on Short broke AVANGAR in the fourth round. This time, though, the CIS side didn’t let up and were able to bring it back and take the lead. Down 3-6, FURIA were able to keep it close winning a 4vs3 retake on B, but it was finally AVANGAR who were able to win the half, 9-6.
AVANGAR were then able to win their first pistol round of the match on the second half of Inferno, but a second round forcbuy by FURIA caught the CIS team by surprise as they took B and planted in a 4vs2 situation. AVANGAR would be quick to recover their footing, however, putting up a solid defense and going on to win the map out giving up only one more round, 16-8, to push it into the decider.

The Brazilians then took the lead on the defending side of Train, 2-0, and although a triple by Sanjar "SANJI" Kuliev and double by Timur "buster" Tulepov in the third round got AVANGAR on the board, FURIA brought it right back at it winning a fullbuy on the fourth. AVANGAR managed to get three in a row and start to get a cushion on the attacking side before FURIA regained control of the half. Up 7-4, FURIA were able to keep adding rounds as VINI with two and KSCERATO with three kept AVANGAR at bay and going into an eco, eventually winning the half 10-5.
AVANGAR then took the second pistol round on Train as SANJI won a 1vs1 against arT to defuse the bomb. FURIA were then able to win the forcebuy, as the two teams traded rounds in a hectic beginning to the last half of the final. The CIS side was finally able to stabilize on the CT side, linking rounds together to bring it all the way back to a tie, 13-13. Both teams then traded rounds, making it 14-14 before Alexey "Qikert" Golubev and SANJI won a 2vs2 to get on match point. AVANGAR were unable to seal the deal, however, and the match went into overtime.
Rounds were once again traded before AVANGAR took the lead into the second half of overtime, where they were able to win as arT was unable to get a last second defuse while AVANGAR were on match point, meaning the CIS side closed it out 19-16 to win the tournament.
